304H stainless steel heat exchanger
Basic Information
Heat Exchangers Tubes are basically used to transfer the heat from one static point to another with transmitting the heat between more than one fluids. These exchangers can be found in refrigerators and automobile industries where there is a high temperature and heat environment. Usually, in the exchangers the heat transfer takes place by passing the fluid through parallel tubes. a variety of materials are used in the fabrication of these tubes. But the most versatile and highly useful steel is Stainless Steel because of its good characteristics and balanced chemical compositions.
Stainless steel contains slight amount of chromium which when increases the resistive property of the steel also increase. The presence of molybdenum in the steel enhances its strength and other properties. 304H is a high carbon Stainless Steel grade which is preferable over any other SS grades due to its properties and tolerance in extensive environment. 304H grade offers high tensile strength, greater short creep properties and excellent heat resistive qualities. This is also the reason of picking up this grade in the fabrication of heat exchangers tubes.
Talking about its physical properties, the SS 304H offers excellent resistance to corrosion, pitting resistance to chloride environment, stress crack corrosion resistance and crevice corrosion resistance at high elevated temperature and pressure.
